Connecting with Hispanic customers during Financial Literacy Month
Did you know April is Financial Literacy Month? This can be a great time to check in with customers, share resources and tie in the importance of protection and building financial security, especially in uncertain times. For Hispanic customers, personal finance knowledge lags behind the overall U.S. population. With the disparate impact of COVID-19 on the Hispanic community it’s even more crucial to help support this very important audience when they need it most.
Financial Empowerment Charlas program
For the second year, Nationwide is offering this video/podcast series designed to help the Hispanic community make informed and effective decisions with their finances. The first Charla recording covering student debt is now available, and you can share with customers the next two available for registration:
The series is hosted by Hispanic finance experts, Paul Roldán, CFP, Vivi Schenk, financial freedom strategist, and Karen Vergara, CPA.
In addition to Charlas program, here are a few additional ways you can provide value to Hispanic customers to help them make decisions to save costs, protect their family and plan for the future.
Talk to your customers about telematics and how it could help reduce their auto premiums
Help them learn more about how telematics can lead to potential cost savings. Learn about the different types of telematics options each carrier offers, including pay-per-mile and safe driving programs. Click “En Espanol” at the bottom of our website to transition and provide links in Spanish.
Share free resources and tools
In addition to the video/podcast series, share foryourfinancialwellness.com to provide calculators for retirement and college along with tips on saving and credit cards.
Use diverse marketing tactics
Work with carriers that offer language options in their marketing materials. Having these options can help differentiate your agency and demonstrate how you offer personalized options. Nationwide offers co-branded email and eBrochure templates in Spanish and Mandarin.
